About the practice
James Bailey
Art + Psychology + Environment
Making internal things visible.
James Bailey’s work begins in lived experience. It explores psychological pressure, survival, memory, intimacy and the systems people build to hold themselves together.
Rather than treating mental health as an outside subject, the work uses visual structure to describe states that can be difficult to explain in ordinary language. Fire, water, containment, rupture and return become part of a recurring vocabulary.
Other work moves into personal archive and autobiography, where humour and discomfort are allowed to sit beside tenderness. Across both strands, the aim is not to tidy experience into a neat conclusion. It is to make it visible enough to look at.
SV Ava · digital collaborator
SV Ava is credited as a digital collaborator across parts of the project: helping develop language, sequencing, visual concepts and presentation. The work remains James Bailey’s practice, with the collaboration deliberately visible rather than hidden behind the process.
